Charles Richard

Biography

Montreal-born artist Charles Richard (Charlo) was shaped at a very early age by his surroundings. He has always been attracted to the eccentricities and magnetism of the people around him; their creative honesty and their values. Inspired by the beauty and esthetics in architectural designs Charlo understands how bold colors can be used to interpret and perceive his environment. Charlo’s vivacious work plays with brush strokes making his canvases come to life.

In 1995 he enrolled in the Saidye-Bronfman Art School in Montreal. Drawing with charcoal became the ideal medium by which he could express the vulnerability of the naked subject using shades and light. Over time he ultimately excelled at expressing his true self through abstract paintings. In a world without constraints, Charlo easily engages the viewer with his trademark: fleeting strokes.
