Biography

Joy Berkson's artistic journey began in childhood, where her innate creativity was evident to friends who saw her as a beacon of innovation and wisdom. Despite early recognition, she pursued a career in advertising, channeling her artistic talents into successful endeavors as a Commercial Artist and later as an Art Director. Even as she excelled in the corporate world, Joy remained devoted to her passion for art, earning a Baccalaureate in Fine Arts and exploring cultural expressions through ventures like designing hand-painted clothing in Guadeloupe.

Returning to her hometown of Montreal, Joy's creative spirit continued to thrive as she took on roles such as Creative Director for a manufacturing company, leaving her mark on numerous package designs. Parallel to her professional achievements, Joy persisted in her personal artistic pursuits, contributing to the permanent collection at Avmor and cultivating her unique style, which celebrates the essence of people and cultures.

Her recent project, #peopleofjoy, showcases her irreverent sculptural work inspired by everyday encounters, reflecting her commitment to infusing humor and positivity into her art. With each piece, Joy aims to evoke joy and provoke smiles, encapsulating the essence of her lifelong journey of artistic exploration and wisdom gathering.
