Mireille Tessier Bourbeau
Biography
Mireille Tessier Bourbeau grew up in Rimouski, along the shores of the St. Lawrence River. The surrounding landscape—both gentle and untamed—deeply influenced her artistic sensibility and continues to inspire her work today.
Originally trained as a figurative painter, Tessier Bourbeau gradually became captivated by color, allowing it to take precedence over strict form in her compositions. Her paintings often draw inspiration from nature, particularly floral subjects, which she interprets through vibrant palettes and expressive brushwork. Using thick, energetic strokes and layered applications of paint, she builds compositions that feel both dynamic and luminous. Her bold use of warm and cool tones creates depth and movement, giving her subjects a sense of vitality and atmosphere.
Over the course of her career, Tessier Bourbeau has presented several solo exhibitions throughout Quebec, as well as an exhibition in London. Her evolving palette and fluid compositions reveal a growing artistic maturity that continues to resonate with collectors.
She has also exhibited alongside her daughter, Pascale Tessier Bourbeau, in a special mother-daughter exhibition that highlights both their individual artistic voices and the creative dialogue between generations.
