Sylvain Prévost

Biography

Sylvain Prévost is a multidisciplinary concept artist based in Mount-Royal, Quebec. Drawing since childhood, he discovered early on that art was both a refuge and a way to express himself during challenging times. Over the years, his practice has grown into a vibrant exploration of color, texture, and storytelling, combining nostalgia with modern, dynamic forms.

Prévost’s work is primarily rooted in Pop Art, with a distinct inspiration drawn from comics, pop culture, films, and music of the 1980s. His pieces capture the energy, optimism, and playful spirit of that era, while reflecting his personal experiences and creative perspective. Each work is a celebration of visual storytelling, layered textures, and immersive sensory engagement.

He employs a wide variety of mediums and techniques, including acrylics, Posca pens, ink, hand lettering, epoxy, glitter, neon, and plaster. Prévost also incorporates sculptural elements such as guitars and other found objects, creating bold 4D compositions that extend beyond the canvas. These pieces invite viewers to step into a multi-dimensional, tactile experience where color, form, and narrative converge.

Influenced by his background in commercial arts, screenwriting, and comic book illustration, Prévost often begins each series with a single word, phrase, or concept that unfolds into a larger visual narrative. Typography, hand-lettering, and layered imagery are integral to his work, giving it a unique energy and sense of motion.

Through his art, Prévost celebrates optimism, evokes shared memories, and encourages dialogue around creativity, resilience, and personal expression. Each piece is a reflection of his energy, personality, and belief in the transformative power of art to inspire, engage, and connect with others.
